TRAIL LIFE MOTTO:

“WALK WORTHY”

In addition to TL’s guiding principles (Adventure, Character, Leadership), TL encourages chartered troops to establish distinctives which help set a course consistent with the vision of the Chartering Organization. Troop OH-2406 is chartered by Church of Christ at Alexandria and has established a list of four (4) distinctives that need to be recognized and supported by any family considering joining this troop. These distinctives are:

  1. Distinctively Christian – TL and Troop OH-2406 are unapologetically Christian organizations, and therefore, we look to the Bible as the foundation for our beliefs and lifestyle1. Our chartering organization, Church of Christ at Alexandria, is a Protestant, non-denominational church, and our troop beliefs, teaching, and practices are in alignment with the church’s statement of faith which can be found on the church’s website (https://www.churchofchristatalexandria.org/what-we-believe/) on the What We Believe page. We would encourage you to thoughtfully review it as this this is the summary of the biblical teachings and worldview by which we strive to develop godly manhood in the lives of young men and their fathers. It is anticipated that Troop OH-2406 families are participants of a local family of faith, meeting regularly to be encouraged and discipled in the body of Christ; Church of Christ at Alexandria warmly welcomes all seeking this church family atmosphere to worship with them.

  2. Father/Son Participation – Father/son involvement is mandatory with special exceptions and inclusions made possible for a single/widowed mom and her son(s). Troop OH-2406 exists to draw the hearts of fathers to their sons and their sons to their fathers. Therefore, fathers and sons attend troop meetings, hit the trail events, campouts, and volunteer service projects together, etc.

  3. Family-Centered Education and Discipleship – As parents, we are called by God to be the principal educators and disciple-makers of our children regardless of the educational tools and resources we use. Parents must see themselves as their sons’ first teachers and realize they are responsible before God for the discipleship and education of their children. During our meetings, events, and other adventures, fathers are encouraged to take the lead in making sure their son(s) can be fully focused on the ongoing activities and instruction. Fathers are most welcome to reinforce this by sitting with their son(s) as appropriate.

  4. Boy Leadership (Patrol Method) – Incorporating the “Trailmen Lead” philosophy into our program helps us to equip young men with important life skills utilizing the patrol method. The patrol method encourages leadership, teamwork, mentoring, positive peer influence, and planning. Boys need to be able to practice team leadership which can be done effectively in the supportive environment that TL provides. With these opportunities, our young men are better prepared to enter subsequent stations in life.

From Colossians 1:10

“so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God,”

Local Troop Number OHIO – 2406

From Psalm Chapter 24, Verse 6. 24:06 Of David. A psalm.

1 The earth is the LORD’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it;

2 for he founded it on the seas and established it on the waters.

3 Who may ascend the mountain of the LORD? Who may stand in his holy place?

4 The one who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not trust in an idol

or swear by a false god.[a]

5 They will receive blessing from the LORD

and vindication from God their Savior.

6 Such is the generation of those who seek Him,

who seek your face, God of Jacob.[b][c] 7 Lift up your heads, you gates;

be lifted up, you ancient doors,

that the King of glory may come in. 8 Who is this King of glory?

The LORD strong and mighty,

the LORD mighty in battle.

9 Lift up your heads, you gates;

lift them up, you ancient doors,

that the King of glory may come in. 10 Who is he, this King of glory?

The LORD Almighty— he is the King of glory.
